About
In short: people + journalism + technology = win.
In a little more detail…
I’m a storyteller who uses several platforms. With a background in writing and reporting, I’m as comfortable composing a 1,000-word in-depth story for print as I am shooting and editing a three-minute video for the Web. Or harnessing the power of social media.
I also have experience with front-end web development, audio, photography, online production, online community management and copyediting.
When reporting I don’t think, “How can I write a great story?” but instead, “How can I tell a great story?”
What have I done?
I work full-time as News Innovation Manager at Publish2 (read announcement). In short, we made tools that power link journalism and help journalists collaborate.
I graduated from the University of Miami in Florida, where I worked at The Miami Hurricane in a number of roles, including editor in chief during the 2007-2008 school year.
During my senior year, I served as community director of CoPress, a start-up building a better technical ecosystem for college news online.
My professional experience includes working as an online intern at The Dallas Morning News, a metro intern at The Miami Herald, a metro intern at the South Florida Sun Sentinel and a reporting intern at the Jewish Journal.
I am a former Poynter Young Journalist Fellow and Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholar.
